Everybody take a deep breath. I, like you, needed a day of reflection and rest. The election was not what we wanted or expected. The energy and excitement and the promise of a new way forward was not realized. Unfortunately, the American people chose a different way, and we must accept the results, acknowledge our situation, and continue to work and fight for the Democratic Party agenda. Statewide, we did have success. Josh Stein, Rachel Hunt, Elaine Marshall, Jeff Jackson and Mo Green were successful! Our Judicial seats were mostly lost, but we’re still awaiting final counts for Allison Riggs for her judicial seat. Katie Tomberlin and T Davis unfortunately were not successful. Both showed tremendous courage and exhaustive campaigning, and we are grateful for their efforts. Perhaps most important of all, we broke the supermajority in the NC state legislature. This will mean many good things can happen in NC! I am very optimistic for our state. Our work must go on, and we cannot give up or give in. We will continue to organize and grow our Chapter to be more diversified and inclusive. I would like to thank our Board, volunteers and GOTV organizers, Katie Tomberlin and the CCDP Board for all the planning and implementation of the GOTV plan and for your support and generosity with donations and your time. We will continue with our community service initiatives and remember that DEMOCRATIC WOMEN ARE THE LIFE OF THE PARTY!
Democratically yours,
